  Asia Foundation representatives were interested in the growing phenomenon later to be termed corporate social responsibility. From an academic and practitioner point of view, (I was both with the Ministry of Trade and for me Den of a graduate school of business), I tried to paint a picture of the shifts within the corporate sector.

  I was at the time Senior Advisor to the Minister of Trade for international trade, and had led several trade missions and negotiations. This paper summarizes the lessons from that experience.

• The prospects for Domestic and Foreign Trade in the Light of the Energy Crisis
  For an academic symposium on world trade, New York, 1978, 18 pp. HC
  
  This was given at the tail end of the fuel crisis of the seventies. Experts from different parts of the world were brought together to reflect on how different governments coped with the situation. I was acting Deputy Minister of Trade of the Philippines at the time.

  I took off based on the shift from product or service orientation to client orientation. recognizing from my previous experience as business school dean, and after that as active in management and policy, that employers were less interested in employee technical competence and more interested in other ingredients for employee success, such as teamwork, flexibility, reliability and values.
