Education for All

  • The World Declaration on Education for All
For the EFA World Conference, Jomtien, Thailand, 2000

In 1990, 151 governments and several international organizations met in Jomtien, Thailand, to affirm their commitment to Education for All as an absolute priority, and to ratify the EFA Declaration. I was tasked to present the final draft to the general assembly. PowerPoint was not yet invented at the time, but I used an earlier [program to provide visual images to the presentation of the declaration' main points. From that time on, I learned that images can be more powerful, and interesting, than words in conveying ideas, something even many current PowerPoint users do not fully realize.
