Personal Speeches
-
Love Letters
Remarks during my 50th birthday celebration, where I invited 50 of my closest female friends to celebrate with me, Manila, 1994, 2 pp.
- This short speech was my testimony to the value I give to love, friendships and dear relationships, and how they shaped my life, and how I was going to try to reciprocate all the love that came my way over the past 50 years.
Author's Comments
Talk at the Book launching of my historical novel "With Hearts Aflame," Manila, 2002, 3 pp.
- My remarks focused on the laborious effort of developing the book, like "delivering a child", and thanking all those who helped in the delivery. I also spoke of why I wrote the book and my hope that it would be, more than just a love story, also a subliminal and memorable lesson on the greatest period in Philippine history.
-
Words of Farewell
Intervention at Regional UNESCO Conference, two weeks before I retired from UNESCO, Almaty, Uzbekistan, 2000, 2 pp.
- I thanked all those who made my stay in UNESCO so fruitful and shared the lessons of whatever success I achieved during my ten years in the organization. As it was a period of transition for UNESCO, I tried to paint a longer range view of the prospects and noble possibilities for the organization.
Acceptance Speech
On the occasion of being presented the Most Outstanding Alumnus Award by the De La Salle University Alumni Association, Manila, 2006, 3 pp.
- Besides thanking all involved, I pointed out that success was never an individual thing, but always the product of teamwork and, and of course, a good educational foundation upon which success can be built.
